CUD - When In Rome, Kill Me

Official press release, penned by Cud manager Rev. M. Baker

"when in rome, kill me": features the cud double drum kit. sampled dialogue is from the living shakespeare inc. condensed version of "julius caesar", listen out for the choice quote "if you have stomachs, chew upon this".

"only a prawn (in whitby)": again featuring tris williams on 2nd drumkit with the lovely denise on cello. move over king of the slums. inspired by a chance meeting between cud's manager rev m baker and morrissey in a whitby chinese restaurant. morrissey, supposedly a reknowned veggie, ordered king prawns.probably.sung in the style of morrissey as a tribute to those live reviewers who have compared (and probably still will) carl puttnam to the former smith.

"bibi couldn't see": a true story about a girl carl met once at leeds poly.she was having trouble finding the canteen. lyrics co-written by rev m baker.

"strange kind of love": carl gets macho with his diction. mike "cud's guitarist" dunphy thinks he's in the rolling stones.

"push and shove": lyricist carl puttnam finds a novel use for the word "baby" in a rock song.

"the day crime paid": features mike dunphy on keyboards. move over inspiral carpets. fade out contains "all you need is love" style backing vocals. also a subliminal backwards message from frank booth.

"when in rome, kill me again": and so the story ends. look out for the sequel "when in rome, kill me too". not to mention the book and the film.

"i've had it with blondes": also known as "i've had it with london". lyrics reveal details of the time/date of the evacuation of bob's children to the planet x.

"van van van": completely rerecorded and improved version of song from the 1st single. much better than the pastels' "truck train tractor". performed in the style of hawkwind.

"vocally speaking": cud go slightly lightweight with a cover of a carefree sud number. lyrically, the usual gripes about not having any money etc. all donations welcome.

"wobbly jelly": short & very sweet. lovesick carl sings with an even more lovesick carl. 1 year old daniel dunphy has a go at the keyboards.

"alison springs": possibly about an avon lady. includes a joke about cud's least favourite band the kinks.

"epicureans answer": carl uses the ancient greeks to send a message to the press, rhyming "stop us" with "opus" along the way. once again mike dunphy thinks he's in the wrong band.
