Nedstock 2013
Apr 30 2013
After a hiatus, CUD are back in late 2013, with a pair of
huge, celebratory shows with our friends from the Midlands,
Ned's Atomic Dustbin. If you were lucky enough to make it to
the Wolverhampton Civic Hall in December 2012 to see us,
you'll know there'll be heaving moshpits ahead. Tickets are
available from 1 May. Visit out Facebook page (see right) for
details.
And this is just the start. Watch out for further
announcements in the coming months.

New bass player!
1 Dec 2012

Well, not quite. Ned's Atomic Dustbin have more bass players than they need, so fulfilling a childhood dream Matt Cheslin joined us to play Strange Kind of Love at Wolverhampton Civic Hall prior to the Ned's headline set.
We are starting to get a reputation for inviting guests aboard. Anyone want to take over singing duties?
Some great shots of the night, as above, from Paul Broome, here.
Leggy Mambo limited vinyl release
Nov 2012

New label Optic Nerve has signed a deal to reissue CUD's classic 1990 album Leggy Mambo this month in a limited vinyl edition. 500 numbered copies are pressed on frosted clear vinyl presented in a luxury gatefold sleeve with new artwork by Carl Puttnam and a printed inner sleeve. Click here for details.
New drummer!
11 Nov 2012

Well, not quite. Some 21 years after he took drumming duties
for us at a soundcheck in Wakefield, former NME journo, book
writer and reviewer, Andrew Collins joined us again, sitting
in for Gogs to play Rich and Strange in front of a capacity
crowd at our Brixton Academy show with Carter. Read his blog
about the night here.
The incomplete BBC sessions!
Aug 2012
Looks like we'll need a Volume 2. Thanks to Marc Riley for
inviting us on his BBC6Music show this month for a live
session. We recorded three classics for his show (Purple Love
Balloon, Robinson Crusoe and I've Had It WIth Blondes) and one
for Gideon Coe, broadcast later (Rich and Strange).
The Complete BBC Sessions
Aug 2013
3 Loop
Music is a new label aiming to re-engage artists and
fans. Their first ambitious release is a 4-CD compilation of
CUD's BBC sessions, including all 3 classic Peel sessions, all
the local radio sessions we could get our hands on, rare
versions recorded just for TV, plus a whole live concert
recorded for the Beeb in 1993.
As well as selecting the tracklisting and providing rare
photos, postcards and sleevenotes for the CD booklet, CUD have
designed a range of exclusive merchandise for 3Loop. Click on
the 3Loop link, top right for more.
The 'lost' Carl sessions
Jun 1 2012
What did Carl do in the intervening years between CUD
splitting up in the 90s and today's revitalised tours? The
answer can now be revealed with the release of Old Masters
1999-2012. This new CD by Carl Puttnam and long-standing CUD
collaborator and producer Alaric Neville features 13
unreleased songs and a host of special guest players including
all of CUD past and present. Click
here for more details.

Kats Karavan
Nov 7 2009
If it hadn't been for John Peel, a CUD
band post 1987 would have been very unlikely, and certainly
less heard of. Being invited to record our first session in
1987 was a surprise and honour, as is being invited to be part
of the new 4-CD collection, Kats Karavan –The History of John
Peel on the Radio.
As you'd expect from an artifact attempting to replicate
something of the great man's taste, the selection of bands is
eclectic, and all the better for it. You won't find some of
the bigger names that Peel 'discovered'. (The Smiths and
Weddoes are noticeable for their absence) but it's a wonderful
souvenir of 40 years of inspired music. Seek it out.
